SAMA Interview with Dr. Artour Rakhimov: Defeat Any Lifestyle Diseases with Breathing Retraining

[SAMA] Episode 143: How to Defeat Lifestyle Diseases with Breathing Retraining - Health Therapy that Always Works
The interviewer was John White, https://www.rifetherapies.com/

Topics related to the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 (coronavirus) infection with breathing retraining and the Buteyko Method are also discussed.

In this video interview with John White, we learn that many of our diseases of civilization are first and foremost caused by overbreathing, or hyperventilation. Unfortunately, there is a culturally conditioned belief that hyperventilation causes greater oxygenation of tissues and organs in the body. On the surface, this stands to sense, as it would appear correct that the more oxygen we take into the body, the more oxygenation will occur. In reality, however, by ventilating more air per minute in and out of the body, we release more carbon dioxide from the bloodstream and lungs. The result of this can be extrapolated from the famous Bohr effect. From the Bohr effect we know the following; the higher the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood, the more readily oxyhemoglobin (a constituent of blood when bound to oxygen) releases its oxygen into cells, tissues, and organs as it passes them. Therefore, if we breathe this carbon dioxide out of the body, there is less available to cause the release of oxygen from oxyhemoglobin and consequently, surrounding cells, tissues and organs don't receive this oxygen and become deoxygenated or hypoxic.

Thanks to the work of Dr. Buteyko however, it has become apparent to many thousands of people that their health can be improved through breathing retraining techniques such as reduced breathing exercises as well as physical exercise (if they are healthy enough to exercise, which most people are, though exercise is not recommended for those with Myalgic encephalopathy / systemic exercise intolerance disorder) all done with nose and diaphragmatic breathing. Diaphragmatic breathing simply means that we breathe into the lower region of our lungs so that our stomach slowly and gently moves forward on the inhale (in the initial stages of breathing retraining when we see and feel the effects of our breathing – as we increase our body's carbon dioxide tolerance, less ventilation of air and therefore breathing is required and the sensations of breathing gradually reduce and become almost or totally imperceptible). The lower part of the ribcage may also move during diaphragmatic breathing, but the shoulders will not rise as we inhale. This type of breathing (nose plus diaphragm) should be our baseline form of breathing as it encourages maximal cellular oxygenation and retention of carbon dioxide in the bloodstream and lungs.

The general health of our body can be determined by a simple breath-holding test called the Control Pause:

After a normal inhalation and exhalation (without restraining or increasing breathing) hold your breath and wait for the first sign of discomfort. This may either be the first urge to breathe or a physical, muscular contraction of the lower respiratory muscles. The stomach will suddenly contract and likely pull inward towards the spine. The time taken before this urge or contraction is called the control pause and is an indicator of your general health. The lower it is, the less cellular oxygenation is occurring within your body. It is possible that the first few times this control pause is taken, that one may unwittingly hold their breath for too long and get a higher result than is genuine. Just remember that it is to be done after a normal inhalation and exhalation and until the first sign of discomfort, no more.

Control pauses of 10 seconds and below indicate moderate to severe health conditions with probable use of medication. Between 10-20 seconds and there are mild to moderate health complications. Between 20-40 seconds and the person is considered healthy by most modern doctors (even though they don't measure the control pause, still they would normally find blood parameters within healthy limits). At around 40 seconds, a person would be considered healthy 100 years ago. And at 60 seconds, they would have what Dr. Buteyko considered the norm.

Run Marathon 30 Min Faster With Breathing Retraining

In this video Dr. Artour Rakhimov, author, breathing retraining practitioner and coach of 2 world champions will explain how people can improve their marathon times by up to 30 minutes using breathing retraining. He will explain how this is possible and will discuss various topics that will back up and describe his claim. The topics discussed in this video will be, average marathon times during the last years, his past years working with various athletes at all different levels, how if people can reduce there breathing by 2-3 times they can often see huge benefits in running times and how he is also aware not everyone will see such huge improvements, for example, elite and professional runners who have trained for years at a high level as there have often optimized there performance so much already. If we measure the average persons breathing parameters in correspondence with the Buteyko table of health zones today, we will often see they are around health level 3 and how people 100 years ago often had better parameter on average and how these low levels mean people have low oxygen level in the body on a cellular level. He will dive into breathing parameters, measurements, the importance of nose breathing for health and better results and how and why people use there mouth or nose during physical exercise How breathing slower and less improves body oxygenation, the cp test, how to achieve nose breathing during physical exercise. Dr. Artour also explains how the Buteyko method/breathing retraining was first developed for severely sick people and how if we apply efforts and achieve high health levels and slower breathing in correspondence with the table he has found the therapy will always work in reducing symptoms and need for medication. Lastly, he will also briefly go into topics such as Dr. Buteyko’s golden standard of health, how if people achieve better health levels their oxygen delivery to tissues will be dramatically improved, how if we improve health levels physical exercise will become less of a chore and people will begin to crave it and how it can become totally easy. If you would like to learn more head over to normalbreathing.org and have a look at scientific research and numbers he mentions and If you want to improve your marathon times you can retrain your breathe and see the amazing results for yourself. Biggest Misconception of Buteyko Method: Physical Exercise vs. Breathwork

So what is the illusion? The illusion is although it may seem the Buteyko method is based on just breathing exercises. In reality, if we look at the life of a student, although they may spend a lot of time at the beginning on breathing exercises to make progress once they achieve higher health levels physical exercise becomes the main factor in terms of there progress and long term success years down the line. Therefore the Buteyko method is more about physical exercise than just doing breathing exercises. Forgiveness (through NDT) Clears Rare Cases of Early Childhood And Other Traumas Cleared (NDT Cases) - Interview with Lynn Himmelman

-->
In this YouTube video, NDT practitioners Dr. Artour Rakhimov and Lynn Himmelman discuss emotional and childhood traumas and share rare NDT cases when the trauma does not necessarily relate to another person but to an object or organizations/institutions.

Unique features of the NDT and its forgiveness process help to address even such difficult cases when people (clients) do not remember their most traumatic life events (as it is the case with most emotinal traumas) or when emotional traumas involve objects. Here, Lynn Himmelman shares her story when emotional trauma was about separation of a child about 2-3 yo with her teddy bear. This object played a large role in the emotional life of a child. Going for a trip without her favorite toy was an emotional disaster for the child.

Dr. Artour recalled an unusual case shared with him by Dr. Netti who teaches the NDT in Houston (Texas, USA). Dr. Netti had an elderly women as a NDT client. This old women had emotional trauma related to her mother even though her mother died many years ago and their had great relationships with her mother all their lives. But something happened at very young age (when she was about 1-2 year old child or toddler). The NDT cleared this psychological trauma and allowed to restore peace of mind and easy breathing for this client. In other cases, even infant traumas can be cleared successfully.

Defining NDT (New Decision Therapy) - Interview with Lynn Himmelman, NDT Master Trainer

How can we define NDT? What is NDT?
This emotional healing therapy is exceptionally effective (over 90% success or healing rate) and helps patients with the release of their long-standing negative emotions and emotional pain through forgiveness using muscular kinesiology. The technique involves one-on-one sessions that last about 60-80 minutes.

This video series is called "Trauma Release with Forgiveness Using NDT (New Decision Therapy): Energy Healing Technique".

Dr. Artour Rakhimov interviewed Lynn Himmelman in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Lynn Himmelman learned this trauma-release therapy from the developer and creator of the New Decision Therapy, Kandis Blakely. You can learn more about the New Decision Therapy here: Define NDT - https://www.normalbreathing.com/ndt/1-what-is-define.php .

Features of the New Decision Therapy:
- The trauma is released in over 90% of cases and that is confirmed
by checking energy meridians after the Forgiveness Procedure.
- The average NDT session lasts about 60-90 min.
- Many clients are not aware of the main issue (trauma) that's affecting their life now.
- In a session, use of muscle energy checking (applied/ behavioral kinesiology) facilitates
identifying the most significant current trauma
- Before the main part of the session, the body is checked or asked for
1) its unconscious awareness about the trauma
2) the body's ability to share this information
3) the body's readiness to make changes and accept the new decision
- Over 90% of adults are being affected by traumatic events of their past. This
manifests as weakened energy points that are checked by a practitioner & corrected.

Nocturnal Hypoxemia and Mortality Caused by Supine Sleep Position (on Back): Interview with Dr. Artour Artour Rakhimov

What is the impact of sleep positions and especially supine posture on health of people with diabetes, HIV-AIDS, cancer, epilepsy, coronary disease, bronchitis, COPD and many other diseases? Why have many family physicians, nurses, and general practitioners noticed that sleep affects COPD patients, patients that experience coronary spasms and patients with sudden cardiac deaths? How does sleeping on one's back cause changes in health and breathing or your oxygen level, as measured by the CP(control pause) test? This effect is also known as nocturnal hypoxemia.

In this YouTube video, Chris Prokop interviews Dr. Artour Rakhimov about sleeping on one's back (supine sleep) and causes of worse health and nocturnal hypoxemia when a person sleeps on his or her back.

Your breath is unrestricted, when sleeping on your back. So it helps to sleep prone, or on the left and right sides because your body weight, restricts your breathing. Most sick patients in hospitals are commonly seen laying on their backs. The patients hyperventilate and breath about 3-4 times more than the medical norm causing nocturnal hypoxemia.

There are NormalBreathing web pages that relate to this topic. One of them is “Supine Sleep Position and Nocturnal Hypoxemia” http://www.normalbreathing.com/article-internet-lies-ideal-sleeping-positions.php.

The Spanish version of this page is “Por qué y cómo prevenir y parar de dormir en forma supina (boca arriba)” http://www.respiracionnormal.org/prevenga-dormir-boca-arriba/ .

Dr. Buteyko and over 180 Soviet breathing retraining doctors did extensive research on sleep positions. They found out that, the supine position or laying on the back was the worst position. A drop of 30% occurred, with the CP (control pause or body oxygen) test. 25 independent Western clinical studies also researched sleep positions and viewed the same drastic effects of supine sleep.

Early morning hours have shown to have the worst effects on over breathing, causing exacerbation’s of peoples diseases and they have the highest mortality according to various published medical studies. Asthma was one such disease, that became aggravated during early morning hours with nocturnal asthma. The Buteyko Method has immediate and long term lasting effects for treating asthma. It has been shown in, 6 Western randomized clinical trials on asthma, to have more than a 90% reduction in medication. The Buteyko Method received a much higher rating in comparison to meditation, yoga, various nutritional interventions and programs or other complementary therapies by the British Thoracic Society.

People with hypertension, anxiety disorders and many more diseases, have a low CP. In contrast, people with 40 seconds have good health, and people with over 60 seconds do not suffer from any chronic conditions. The Normalbreathing.com website helps people in achieving a higher CP with information on breathing exercises and lifestyle factors.

Great body oxygen also eliminates all symptoms of chronic bronchitis http://www.normalbreathing.com/c/bronchitis-symptoms.php as this page also suggests.

Sleep positions and postures, form the basis of the breathing retraining lifestyle. Sleep positions have a direct impact on your MCP (morning control pause), the main parameter of health. If your sleep positions cause you to over breathe, it will limit your overall CP growth, as the body will be working to recuperate, from the harmful effects of the night. Many people experience, a drop in their CP over night. The MCP may be easily measured at home, just after waking up, to test the effects of various sleep position, on your oxygen levels preventing nocturnal hypoxemia.

Breathing retraining exercises encouraged by Normalbreathing.com include the Buteyko Method. This medical and Alternative Health method has been used on over 100,000 asthmatics, more than 30,000 people that have cardiovascular problems and many other conditions (sleep apnoea, bronchitis, liver cirrhosis). The Buteyko Method has been approved by the Russian Ministry of Health. Additionally, Soviet trials have used the Buteyko Method on HIV-AIDS, radiation disease, hepatitis B, metastatic cancer (with a 6 times decrease in 3 year mortality) and more.

Devices are also used, for the breathing exercises and are found to be easier for beginning students. Such devices include the amazing DIY device and the Frolov device.

Best sleep positions: Left or right side? Back or chest? Interview with Dr. Artour Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/EpqHpF84MHASleeping postures and positions (left or right, supine vs. prone) for people with asthma, COPD, cancer, HIV-AIDS, cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, diabetes and many more diseases. Can sleep positions affect the health of people with these various diseases? Chris Prokop, from the NormalBreathing team, interviews Dr. Artour Rakhimov about best sleeping postures and medical research that compared various sleep poses by testing effects of sleeping on the left side vs. the right side as well as comparing supine sleep (on one's back) vs. prone (or on the chest or stomach). Results were consistent. For Western medical research, see this page: http://www.normalbreathing.com/l-6-best-sleep-positions.php The Spanish version of the same page is here "Mejor Posición para Dormir y el Dormir Boca Arriba": http://www.respiracionnormal.org/mejores-posiciones-para-dormir/ You can also have it in German "FORSCHUNG ÜBER DIE BESTEN SCHLAFPOSITIONEN: AUF DEM RÜCKEN, BAUCH, DER LINKEN ODER RECHTEN SEITE": http://www.atmungnormal.de/schlafen-schlafposition/ . According to research done by Dr. Buteyko and over 200 doctors, supine position is the worst position for breathing. Similarly, 25 Western studies came to the same conclusion, that sleeping on the back is the worst position. Sleeping on the back, was tested using the control pause test, measuring your oxygen levels. There is about a 30% drop in the CP test (body oxygen test also known as the Control Pause), when laying on the spine. Meanwhile, most medical websites suggest supine sleep as the best sleep posture! Therefore, Dr. Artour Rakhimov published a press release "Best Sleeping Position Myth: Mass Media Disinformation" here: http://www.normalbreathing.com/pr-deception-best-sleeping-positions.php Individuals with hypertension, anxiety disorders and numerous other diseases, have an already low CP. While people with a 40 seconds CP, have good health and people with over 60 seconds, do not have any chronic health conditions. Learning about proper sleep positions and sleep conditions, you will be able to apply changes to a foundational part of being healthy. Maintaining your CP from the previous night, allows you to have a greater MCP (morning control pause), which is the most important part of improving your health. While, many people have a drop in their CP test overnight. If your CP rises a lot during the day, but the MCP is neglected it will keep you, at a lower CP because the body has a limited time to recover. Additionally, sleep positions and their effect on your CP, can be easily measured at home, to notice the important differences. By taking measures to apply proper sleeping positions, breathing exercises and other lifestyle factors, you will improve your overall CP. Breathing exercises include the Buteyko Method, that is approved by the Russian Ministry of Health. It was also used on more than 100,000 asthmatics, 30,000 plus people with cardiovascular problems and many more other conditions(liver cirrhosis, bronchitis, sleep apnea). The Buteyko Method was tested, by 6 Western randomized clinical trials on asthma (more than a 90% reduction in medication) and Soviet trials on HIV-AIDS, hepatitis B, metastatic cancer(by 6 times reduction in 3 year mortality), radiation disease and more. Furthermore, breathing devices are found to be easier to practice. The devices include among others, the Amazing DIY device or the Frolov device. Part 8. Mindfulness and Meditation with Buteyko Reduced Breathing Exercise, Use of Cortisol... Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/nF0ek-k-nSoMindfulness and meditation with Buteyko reduced breathing exercise, use of cortisol and other techniques While the original Buteyko method has very little related to training of the mind or mindfulness, there were developments in this area. Breathing exercises are among first most ancient meditation techniques: http://www.normalbreathing.com/meditate-mindful.php Patrick McKeown, a Buteyko teacher from Ireland, developed mindfulness exercises with muscle relaxation combined with reduced breathing that is the main exercise of the Buteyko method. These advances can be found in his audio “Anxiety Free” that is a part of the Amazon book with the same name. Further advances in the area of meditation and metacognition are to be expected in future. There were many other small and large innovations to slow down your breathing and achieve higher morning CP. Dr. Andrey Novozshilov, MD, the chief physician of the Buteyko Clinic in Moscow provided these two great ideas. How to use cortisol for breathing retraining and the Buteyko method. These ideas, as well as how to dose cortisol and how to wean off cortisol, can be found in his book “Living Without Asthma”. Dr. Andrey Novozshilov also shared how to represent reduced breathing exercise (the main breathing exercise of the Buteyko method) using a simple chart or diagram. The image is shown in the video above. SLIDE: Other innovations: - Patrick McKeown's mindfulness exercise that combines reduced breathing with muscle relaxation - Dr. Andrey Novozshilov's description related to uses of cortisol for breathing retraining and his visual representation of reduced breathing on a chart. Part 7. Grounding (Earthing) vs Barefoot Walking for NormalBreathing and Buteyko courses Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/umNWDdHAM4wPart 7. Grounding (or Earthing) vs barefoot walking technique for NormalBreathing and Buteyko breathing courses. The NormalBreathing became the first Buteyko course that introduced Grounding (Earthing) as a part of breathing retraining. Dr. Buteyko and his colleagues discovered that barefoot walking is beneficial for breathing retraining. One of the written sources that mentions barefoot walking is in the article by Soulyagin S. S. Physical factors in DVBM treatment, published in Buteyko method. Its application in medical practice, ed. by K.P. Buteyko, 2nd ed., 1991, Titul, Odessa, pages 47-53. However, their explanation of positive effects was based on the idea of nerve stimulation on the surface of the feet. The idea of grounding the human body appeared decades later when Clint Ober discovered and started to investigate effects of electrical grounding of the human body for health benefits (e.g., to reduce insomnia). Later, positive effects of nerve and muscle cells due ot Grounding were found in clinical studies. SLIDE Teachers and students of the NormalBreathing course use a unique DIY Earthing (Grounding) method at night (during sleep) that: 1) is cheaper and simpler than any commercial (Amazon, etc.) Grounding product and 2) provides better grounding (or as good as in best clinical trials on Earthing). Part 6. Sleep and Breathing Retraining: NormalBreathing vs Buteyko course Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/y0MG50pJK-0Part 6. Sleep and Breathing Retraining: NormalBreathing course vs original or classical Buteyko course Dr. KP Buteyko developed simple rules in relation to sleep, prevention of insomnia and higher morning CP: go to sleep when you are really sleepy and get out of the bed in the morning (do not stay in bed). Other known or previous ideas related to the original Buteyko breathing method are following: students naturally get less sleep with easier breathing, down to 2 hours of sleep at high 2-3 min CP, as for yoga masters (in relation to sleep duration and breath holding abilities). All problems with insomnia and poor sleep disappear with easier breathing during sleep. The NormalBreathing course includes these new additional details: - A great emphasis on the morning CP as the main parameter used by students to measure their physical health - The Breathing-Sleep Chart that provide a more detailed link about expected duration of natural sleep (in hours) and body oxygen test results - The systematic and ordered approach to using sleep-related techniques include testing sleep positions, development of ideas related to sleeping sitting, effects of nutrients, exercise, and other factors on sleep, development and use of swaddling methods. SLIDE TEXT: Students and teachers of the NormalBreathing course learn about: - The morning CP as the main parameter of physical health - The Breathing-Sleep Chart that provide relationship about expected duration of natural sleep (in hours) and body oxygen test results - The system of sleep-related techniques include effects of nutrients, exercise, and other factors on sleep, development and use of swaddling methods, testing sleep positions, and development/use of ideas and methods related to sleeping sitting. Part 5. Diet for breathing retraining: NormalBreathing vs. Buteyko course Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/DBAztUga4tkPrevious known ideas related to the Buteyko breathing technique mainly provided general rules: - Eat only when you are hungry - Stop in time - Raw foods are better since they do not intensify minute ventilation (or breathing) as mush as cooked foods - Vegetarian diets have advantages but not for all people - Cans foods are better to avoid. Here are major innovations for the NormalBreathing course. Development of the 3-day test for 5 major nutrients Buteyko and his doctors used supplements only for cleansing reactions. During the NormalBreathing course, students can test their specific deficiencies from the first days of breathing retraining. Uses of fish oil (USSR in 60-70s – no problems); the iddea was suggested by Charles Maguire, while testing is done while monitoring changes in the morning CP. “No soiling” idea Teaching ideas related to diet and GI flora based on signs related to ideal GI health including “no soiling” (no need to use toilet paper after a bowel movement). This sign (no soiling) is new even for the whole GI world with 1,000 of doctors, nutritionists and health therapists. No soiling means absence of biofilms on the surface of the small and large intestine. Overgrowth of Candida Albicans, Helicobacter Pylori, and other pathogens leads to formation of such biofilms. Ketogenic diet is the latest and greatest innovation in breathing retraining. It was suggested by Misha Sakharoff (Denmark) during last months of 2014. SLIDE: Not only for breathing retraining, but even in history of known to us research and studies related to digestive health, the NormalBreathing course first suggested and introduced that absence of soiling (no fecal residues) is a simple and important sign of ideal digestion and absence of biofilms on the surface of the gut. Currently, ketogenic diet is taught as a part of the course. Part 4. Physical exercise for breath retraining: NormalBreathing vs Buteyko courses Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/7GWRC135On0Teaching sports and physical exercise for the NormalBreathing course is based on the Breathing-Exercise Charts that provide additional practical ideas related to the use of physical exercise for other CP zones, as well as new ideas related to timing and distribution of exercise with routines. In the past, for the original Buteyko method, only CP20 was the threshold or border to differentiate students. With over 20 the current CP, students were suggested to have jogging or more intensive forms of exercise, but with 100% nose breathing (in and out). This criteria would not be applicable for people with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and emphysema. The most important innovation and discovery relates to the Breathing-Exercise Chart that provides the link between amount of physical activity per day and the ideal expected CP for the next morning. There are actually 3 different Charts that are for 3 different age groups. The Main Chart is for middle age people, while younger people need to have more exercise, and older people can maintain health with less exercise, Text for the slide: Teaching physical exercise for the NormalBreathing course is based on the Breathing-Exercise Charts that provide additional practical ideas related to the use of physical exercise, new ideas related to timing and distribution of exercise, and how much exercise is required for different age groups in order to achieve certain morning CP results. Part 3. Buteyko Breathing Exercises vs. NormalBreathing Exercises Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/HzXsk_bMRqwHistorical changes in durations of Buteyko breathing sessions; from 10-15 min (1970s) to 30-40 min (in 1980s), and then to 15-20 min (in 20th century). Evolvement for the NB course: start with Frolov or DIY devices and later progressed to Buteyko breathing exercises. The original idea to combine the Buteyko method with breathing devices (the Frolov device, in particular) was suggested by Leo Volkov, a Buteyko teacher from Australia who was a translator for the 1st BIBH Conference in New Zealand in 2000. He sent me an email with his experience with the Frolov device, and soon later I was buying 24-piece boxes of Frolov devices from Russia. Later, this resulted in the development of the Amazing DIY Breathing Device. Advantages of devices for breathing exercises: - easier to practice (diaphragm too) and learn, - higher final CPs, - faster progress. New innovations and differences: C. Teaching Buteyko breathing exercises with 6 preliminary requirements, numerous contraindications (in the past, only hypertension and panic attacks were mentioned in Soviet sources) and 3 effects related to overtraining (overtraining, lost CO2 sensitivity and blunted CO2 sensitivity). Extra contra-indications include: - Presence of transplanted organs - Pregnancy - Brain traumas and acute bleeding injuries - Blood clots - Acute stages (exacerbations) of life-threatening conditions (infarct, stroke, cardiac ischemia, severe asthma attack, metastasizing cancer, septic shock, multiple organ failure, near-death experience, etc.) Insulin-dependent diabetes (type 2 diabetes) - Loss of CO2 sensitivity - Low weight (underweight) breathing students. Students of the NormalBreathing course: 1) are screened for temporary restrictions and contra-indications to ensure safety of breathing exercises 2) systematically learn crucial requirements for practicing breathwork 3) gradually progress to more difficult breathing exercises 4) are informed and monitored for prevention of potential problems due to: - general overtraining due to breathing exercises - a loss of CO2 sensitivity - blunted CO2 sensitivity. Part 2. Promotion of breathing retraining: Buteyko vs NormalBreathing Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/LR1DfvBG60wSo, what are the differences for the NormalBreathing course in comparison with the Buteyko method taught by Soviet doctors? 1. Promotion of the NormalBreathing course is based on the idea of improving body oxygen levels. In the past, the first ideas related to promotion were based on: - The Buteyko breathing method - Importance of CO2 - Breathing less air - VEDB (Volitional Elimination of Deep Breathing) - Fighting with hyperventilation. What is Buteyko method? How to define Buteyko breathing technique? Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/xQv0IwBD-Y0Part 1. What is the Buteyko method? How to define the Buteyko breathing technique? Many Buteyko practitioners have been involved in trials, teaching new students and practitioners. This video presentation is about Dr. Artour Rakhimov's vision related to innovations and developments in breathing retraining and teaching the Buteyko method. Directions of developments and innovations: - Safety - More severe states of known conditions - New or more serious health conditions or diseases - Less time for students with higher efficiency or better long-term results. What is the Buteyko course? Should it exactly follow all ideas suggested by Dr. Buteyko? What is the Buteyko (original) method? There are 4 different criteria or approaches that can be used to answer this question: 1. Anything that within the main idea of the method: The cause of chronic health probems is overbreathing (low CO2 in the lungs); the direction to go is to increase CO2 in the alveoli of the lungs by reducing ventilation). The Buteyko Table of Health Zones reflects healthy states and stages of diseases. 2. “Back to Nature idea” 3. A specific fixed set of methods. Probably those that was originally used by Buteyko and his colleagues (the classical method) 4. Not specific methods and techniques (tools), but specific practitioners or closest people... (better certified or spent more time etc.) Reverse order: 4. Specific or certified people – My view: the Buteyko method is about specific methods and techniques that 1) can be reproduced and used by others (new students, new teachers) and 2) able to provide better results. Buteyko's criteria: 90% success rate for treating diseases by breathing practitioners, having 60 s CP. 3. What is the original Buteyko method? A. Historical changes were also common: breathing exercises 12-15 min, 30-40 min, now 15-20 min.... B. For example, here are Dr. Buteyko's quotes about effects of high blood glucose (hyperglycemia) in people with diabetes mellitus: “... We are convinced that the increase of sugar level is not a pathologically damaging factor. Sometimes we observe a tenfold rise of blood sugar, and so what? Nobody died from such a hyperglycemia. Sugar is not poisonous. That is clear for everybody.” This the quote from the main Russian source on the Buteyko method, from the 2nd Conference of Buteyko doctors, KP Buteyko, The theory of the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus. Basic principles of hormone therapy. In: Buteyko method. Its application in medical practice, ed. by K.P. Buteyko, 2nd ed., 1991, Titul, Odessa, pages 5-10. These days, due to 21-century research on inflammation caused by glucose metabolism, it is clear that even normal blood glucose has mild toxic and addictive effects due to existence of cleaner fuel: dietary fats. If someone teaches the Buteyko method, does this mean that this Buteyko practitioner should also advise their diabetic patients to ignore hyperglycemia? Similarly, Buteyko had serious wrong ideas in relation to use and effects of breathing devices. He claimed that overbreathing during device sessions would cause overbreathing after sessions. This is not correct since any Buteyko teacher who tried devices agrees that devices lead to higher final CPs after sessions of the same duration and similar intensity (air hunger). Note that my personal opinion is that Dr. KP Buteyko was the greatest medical man. He made more significant health contributions than contributions made by any other 10 famous medical people combined. My understanding of the Buteyko breathing method: - Changes are normal for when applied now vs. in the past. Teaching Buteyko breathing method factors: - Not people or practitioners, not diplomas, but tools and results. Some tools and differences are to be discussed later. Efficiency of breathing retraining is in results (CP for 99+% of people): - Safety for special situations and conditions (vs. damage) - Increased success rate for more severe conditions (more serious forms or more difficult conditions) - Less time and better results - Better long-term results (not breathing exercises). How to Achieve Automatic Diaphragmatic Breathing 24/7 Day-Night: Prevent Chest/Thoracic Respiration Artour Rakhimov

http://youtu.be/ACkG3F5FU5sHow To Achieve Automatic Diaphragmatic Breathing 24/7, Day & Night – Prevent chest or thoracic respiration with breathing retraining and high body oxygen levels Is it possible to unconsciously breathe with the diaphragm 24/7? There are many people out there who claim to be able to teach people to use diaphragmatic breathing, but in many cases this retraining takes many months or even years before the person will reach a point of doing so automatically, or without consciously deciding to change their breathing pattern e.g. while sitting somewhere comfortably for an hour a day and focusing on their breathing pattern. Meaning there is no guarantee that they are breathing diaphragmatically through the night or even while at rest, during the rest of their day. The reasons for this are very simple. Their methods do not address the causes of chest breathing, which can be categorized as, too fast and too large inhalations, causing low body and brain oxygenation. Many of them also claim that breathing more air improves body oxygen levels, and that CO2 is a toxic waste gas, this is incorrect. Modern people breathe about 2 times more air than the medical norm and most people are still suffering from a lack of oxygenation. When we breathe more than the medical norm at rest – which can be as little as 12 small diaphragmatic breaths per minute, and about 500 ml of air per breath – it is called hyperventilation. Hyperventilation causes alveolar hypocapnia (or CO2 deficiency in the lungs), which reduces blood flow and oxygenation of the diaphragm muscle. While arterial hypocapnia makes smooth and skeletal muscles tense, the diaphragm included. In fact, hyperventilation or (overly) deep diaphragmatic breathing, reduces oxygen delivery to all vital organs in the human body. Sick people tend to breathe about 2-3 times more than the medical norm. Which means they suffer from low CO2 levels in the lungs and reduced O2 levels in their body cells. Many of us may have brief moments of additional hyperventilation (on top of what we have now) when surprised. Where people in the past had only 4-5 L/min for minute ventilation at rest, modern numbers are about 12 L/min for normal subjects. Hyperventilation makes modern people oxygen deficient (see instructions for the body-oxygen test below) and this makes them chest breathers. Therefore, automatic (unconscious) diaphragmatic breathing is very rare these days. In this video, Dr Rakhimov explains how, with the students from his breathing retraining course who improve their body oxygen test results (see how to test below) to a level of 30 CP, first thing in the morning, they automatically switch to diaphragmatic breathing. Regardless of age and how accustom they have become to chest breathing. Many of them start out unable to move or even feel their diaphragm, but by the time they reach a body oxygen level of 30 seconds, first thing in the morning, diaphragmatic breathing becomes their new normal. So, in short, what are the major benefits of automatic diaphragmatic breathing? Diaphragmatic breathing 24/7 is necessary for ideal oxygenation of the arterial blood (about 98-99%) and efficient lymphatic drainage of abdominal organs, as up to 60% of all lymph nodes are located just under the diaphragm. Dr Artour Rakhimov Interview: How To Breathe For Health (Buteyko Method)

Dr. Artour Rakhimov Interview: How To Breathe For Health (Buteyko Method)

This is Dr. Artour Rakhimov's Interview for Extreme Health Radio extremehealthradio.com. The title of this show was “How To Breathe For Health: Buteyko Method”.

During last 100 years, humans experienced large changes in the way they breathe. Modern people breathe nearly 2-3 times more air than people living at the beginning of the 20th century. Dozens of clinical studies showed that people with chronic diseases breathe even heavier. All these basic facts related to breathing can be found on the Homepage of http://www.normalbreathing.com/.

What are the effects of over-breathing or breathing too much air (known as hyperventilation)? Breathing more air at rest decreases CO2 levels in the lungs and body cells. As a result, arteries and arterioles constrict causing decreased oxygen transport for tissues of the body.

These physiological facts were known to Dr. Buteyko who developed the Buteyko breathing technique to treat chronic diseases. He trained over 150 medical professionals to apply this natural healing therapy on nearly half million of people in the USSR and, later, Russia.

The Buteyko technique is popular for asthma and other respiratory conditions, as well as infections. See also our chest infections remedy. But other conditions, even cancer and diabetes can be addressed as well.

Dr. Artour Rakhimov created and developed world's largest website devoted to breathing retraining. About 500 web pages of this site provides analysis and practical tools related to lifestyle factors and how they interact and influence our breathing. This relates to physical exercise, sleep, diet and many other factors of life.

Meditation and mindfulness are also parts of these breathing exercises.

Crohns Disease and Colitis Recovery Guide (IBD Treatment and Cure) Artour Rakhimov

Crohn's Disease and Colitis Recovery Guide (IBD Treatment and Cure)

IBD (inflammatory bowel disease): Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
http://www.amazon.com/Disease-Colitis-Recovery-Ulcerative-ebook/dp/B00FP5BD2O/

People with IBD experience digestive dysbiosis with pathological microbial films on the linings of the large and small colons with following symptoms:
- a heavy yellow or whsite coating on the tongue
- frequent urination and reduced urinary volumes (less than 300 ml instead of normal 1 l) due to chronic inflammation
- flatulence, burping, ear buzzing, and offensive fecal smell
- use of large amounts of toilet paper due to excessive soiling.

While monitoring these and other symptoms of abnormal digestion, a person can find out and address those triggers that cause dysbiosis.

Common hidden triggers of Crohn's disease and colitis include:
- tap water, most types of bottled and mineral water
- poor posture (including slouching and bending forward)
- certain types of physical exercise that cause tension in abdominal muscles triggering acute digestive flare-ups
- some sleeping positions
- non organic foods
- other chemical triggers that include essential oils (in chewing gums and toothpastes) and acids.

These triggers are analyzed in detail in the first Amazon book of this series with the title "Crohn's Disease and Colitis: HiddenTriggers and Symptoms": http://www.amazon.com/Crohns-Disease-Colitis-Ulcerative-ebook/dp/B009SACFJ2/
More details about this book can also be found here: http://www.normalbreathing.com/crohns-ulcerative-colitis-diet.php/.

This 2nd book “Crohn's Disease and Colitis Recovery Guide” is based on the goal to achieve certain clear and specific signs of normal (or ideal) digestive health.

Such signs of a clean gut are virtually never mentioned in the medical literature or sources and books related to alternative medicine.

This 2nd book focuses on a detailed treatment guide for people with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis with the following goals:
- normalization of the GI flora and natural elimination of biofilms and inflammation
- achievement of a clean tongue (without any thick coating)
- an ability to hold up to 1 liter (4.2 cups) of urine in the urinary bladder
- elimination of flatulence, burping, ear buzzing, and offensive fecal smell
- achievement of no soiling (i.e., no residue is left on the anus after a bowel movement) and regular bowel movements without marks on the toilet bowl.

Gradual achievement of these goals requires numerous lifestyle changes that relate to diet, chewing, posture, physical exercise, sleep, thermoregulation, breathing patterns, and avoidance of all triggers.

With this treatment guide and avoidance of triggers, most people with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis can achieve no soiling (no need for toilet paper) in a few days and clinical remission in 1-2 months.

The book “Crohn's Disease and Colitis Recovery Guide” by Dr. Artour Rakhimov can be found in Kindle and paperback formats on Amazon.com.

There is also a PDF version of the book. Click the link below for content, sample chapters, and Amazon reviews of this book.
